Overthinking it
Title: Overthinking it
Year created: 2022
Media: Pencil on paper
Artwork Dimensions: 24 × 18cm
Frame Dimensions: 35 × 40cm
A strong part of my art practice is to journal my thoughts, feelings and experiences. This particular drawing was drawn with high quality Staedtler pencils in my Moleskine journal. The paper is thin and slightly translucent giving it a beautifully smooth surface for developing tone and fine details.
Artist statement:
“Thoughts are powerful. Overthinking what to do can lead to doing nothing at all. Aspiring for perfection used to be a trait I considered a strength. I’ve started to let go of this exhausting desire and embrace spontaneous or unplanned outcomes.
This artwork was finished after I stopped overthinking it, and declared it finished.”
This artwork was exhibited in my solo exhibition, 'Mid-sentence' at Gatakers Artspace in Maryborough, QLD from April - May 2022.
This artwork is custom framed by Wide Bay Art Gallery. It has a Navy mat that complements the neutral tones of the work. The artwork is professionally secured with installed D hooks and string ready for your wall.
